Planory.ai (“Planory,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use https://planory.ca (the “Service”), how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Assignment details you enter into the planner (title, type, dates, page count)
- Files you upload for AI scanning (PDFs, images of assignment briefs)
- Messages sent to the AI assistant
Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics (pages visited, features used, session duration) via Vercel Analytics
- Browser type, operating system, and general geographic region (country/city level)
- Referring URL and on-site navigation patterns
- Rate-limit cookies for the file upload feature (stores upload count and reset timestamp — no personal data)
We do not collect
- Your name, email address, or contact details (unless you email us directly)
- Payment information (handled entirely by Stripe if you upgrade to Pro)
- Precise location data
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Service — your assignment details are used to generate a study plan and power the AI assistant in real time.
- To process file uploads — uploaded files are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis and are not stored on our servers beyond the duration of the request.
- To improve the Service — anonymised analytics help us understand which features are used and where friction exists.
- To enforce rate limits — upload-count cookies prevent abuse of the free scanning feature.
- To communicate with you — if you contact us by email, we use your email address to reply.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate the Service:
- Anthropic — processes file content and AI assistant messages. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — hosts the Service and provides analytics. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — processes payments for Pro subscriptions. We never see or store your card details. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Planory.ai, our users, or the public.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
We use a single HTTP-only cookie (upload_limit) to track how many files you have uploaded in a given 10-hour window. This cookie contains only a count and timestamp — no personal information — and expires after 10 hours.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Vercel Analytics uses a privacy-friendly, cookieless measurement approach.
5. Data Retention
- Assignment inputs and AI responses exist only in your browser session and are not stored on our servers.
- Uploaded files are transmitted to Anthropic for processing and are not retained by Planory after the response is returned.
- Anonymised analytics data is retained for up to 12 months.
- Rate-limit cookies expire after 10 hours.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users of all ages, including students in secondary school. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Because the Service does not require account creation, no personal data is collected by default from any user, regardless of age.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@planory.ca and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Security
We use HTTPS for all data in transit. Our infrastructure is hosted on Vercel, which maintains industry-standard security practices. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
